Among its other living and care options, Sunrise of Bloomfield offers Edna’s Place, an intimate cluster of suites within our Reminiscence Neighborhoods where residents who have higher level needs due to more severe cognitive impairment such as late stage memory loss or Alzheimer’s disease can find both the care and the caring they deserve

Sunrise recognizes the special needs of people with Alzheimer's disease and other related memory impairments. Offering a fresh approach, we begin with understanding the stories and details of a senior's life so we can help them attain what we call "pleasant days." This means finding ways to involve residents in everyday activities they enjoy and can feel successful at, in specially designed surroundings that are both safe and stimulating. Providing care for seniors with Alzheimer's and other memory impairments can be challenging, but Sunrise has created a care option that works — innovative and effective programs with multiple levels of support.

Our Reminiscence Neighborhood is designed for seniors with mild or more advanced Alzheimer's or other memory disorders.

Sunrise takes great care to make sure residents feel comfortable and secure. Our special programs are developed in accordance with the Alzheimer's Association's standards, The Guidelines for Dignity. Sunrise residents engage in therapeutic activities designed to enhance their independence and bring them pleasant days.

personalized services and assistance
We understand that each resident is an individual with unique needs and preferences. That's why we meet with residents and family and conduct an assessment - prior to move-in and at regular intervals after move-in - to understand the need for assistance and support in the following areas:

Personal hygiene and grooming
Showering or bathing
Dressing and clothing selection
Socialization and activities
Medication coordination
Mobility and transferring
Continence management
Monitoring of safety
Assistance with eating
This assessment helps determine the appropriate care and service that preserve each resident's dignity, encourages independence and best enables freedom of choice. The assessment results in determining a specific service level based on the amount of assistance provided.

Upon completion of the assessment, a team comprised of the Executive Director, Assisted Living or Reminiscence Coordinator, Health Care Coordinator, and our designated Care Manager prepares an individualized service plan that is monitored on a daily basis.
